If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that faith plays a huge role in how I approach life—and business. For me, it’s not just a private part of my life; it’s at the heart of who I am and how I lead.
Every day, I make time for my own devotional time. It’s how I center myself and get clear on what’s important. I even keep a prayer journal to formalize my conversations with Jesus, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer. I truly believe that God gave me the brains and talents to build PZI and that He’s been opening doors and creating opportunities I couldn’t have imagined
“At PZI, we take care of people, and that’s what Jesus did. He took care of people.” That simple but powerful idea is what drives everything we do. Our foundation is built on Christian values—not because we require our employees to share our faith but because we believe values like caring for others, putting people first, and being servant leaders are universal and powerful.
Faith isn’t separate from how I lead; it’s woven into everything. I’ve embraced bringing faith into my decision-making, even when it feels a little scary. There have been times when I’ve made choices that didn’t make sense on paper, but I prayed about them, trusted my heart, and watched them turn out better than I could’ve hoped.
One thing I’ve learned the hard way, though, is the importance of boundaries. A senior partner at KPMG once told me:
“The organization isn’t a person; it’s an insatiable machine, and the more you give it, the more it wants. As a manager, set your boundaries, adhere to them, communicate them to your team, and make your organization a better place to work.”
That advice stuck with me. Now, I encourage everyone at PZI to set boundaries and prioritize their well-being because I’ve seen firsthand how that balance creates a stronger, healthier team.
Over the years, my faith has taught me so much about leadership. As I’ve shifted my focus to serving others—my team, our clients, and our partners—I’ve seen what’s possible when you lead with heart. “In changing my leadership attitude, I’ve learned more about managing people than I could ever have thought, even with thirty years of business experience.” That shift has been humbling, but also so rewarding.
Faith also shapes the culture at PZI. Caring for people isn’t just a checkbox on a list; it’s a core value that drives how we work every day. We’re especially committed to supporting veterans and military spouses, and that’s deeply personal for me as a military spouse myself. It aligns with my faith and my belief that serving others is one of the most meaningful things we can do.
Looking back, I can clearly see God’s hand in PZI’s growth and success. From landing major contracts to building partnerships and working with incredible people, I feel so blessed. And I try to stay grounded in gratitude, always reminding myself to give God the glory.
At the end of the day, my purpose is simple: to keep leading with faith, even when I stumble, and to inspire others to care deeply for the people around them. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
